Celebrating 30-years of sheds

In celebration of Men's Shed Week the Kyneton Museum wanted to share a story about a recent collaborativeproject we undertook with Woodend Men's Shed.
As part of a grant we received to improve our horse-drawn carriage andequine collection, we were able to engage the team from the Woodend Men's Shed to construct 6 wooden saddle stands, to better display and work on ourcollection of historic leather saddles. Kyneton Museum volunteer Rose Latimer, was impressed with the sturdiness and strength of the saddlestands, and the Shed carpenters' ability to transform a paper design into aworking product. Paul Muller from the Woodend Men's Shed said they enjoyed their collaboration with the Kyneton Museum, and were always on the lookout for more community projects that their 45 active participants could assist with.
The saddle stands project was an excellent example of how the Kyneton Museum engages with local community groups, to the benefit of all involved.
